Mr. Sang Ok PARK served as a prosecutor, senior prosecutor, director general, and chief prosecutor at various levels of the Korean Public Prosecution Service from 1984 to 2009, where he practiced law enforcement in various fields, including prosecution, planning and administration, special investigations, criminal intelligence, and foreign criminal affairs. After his retirement, he worked in private practice for four years, where he also gained experience representing clients in legal disputes.

He also served as the President of the Korean Institute of Criminology and Justice, the only national think-tank in the field of criminal policy, for one year where he focused his efforts and capabilities on research and development of policies to combat corruption and build a safe society, including organizing anti-corruption forums.

In 2015, he was appointed as a Justice to the Supreme Court, and during his tenure of six years until his retirement in 2021, he presided important cases, including the en banc case that raised the working age of manual workers from 60 to 65, and the en banc Decision that changed the previous Supreme Court ruling that embezzlement is established when a trustee in a 2-party trust disposes of trust real estate without consent. He also served as the chairman of the Criminal Practice Research Society in the Supreme Court and published a commentary on the general provisions on Criminal Act as the editor-in-chief.

After retiring from the Supreme Court, he was invited by the U.S. Institute of Peace, an affiliated organization of the U.S. Congress, to conduct research and co-author an article on Korea-Japan relations as a visiting scholar, and was appointed as a chair professor at the Korea Institute of Justice, where he lectures on criminal trial.

Since September 2024, he has been working with Jipyong as a Of Counsel.
