Yong Gil KIM

Mr. Yong Gil Kim earned B.A. in Architectural Engineering at Yonsei University. After graduation, he joined and worked for Samsung C&T Corporation as an engineer for 6 years, learning the construction industry and its fields. After graduating from a law school and passing the Korean Bar exam, he worked for Samsung C&T Corporation for another three years, managing overseas construction contracts and handling claims. He has been also involved in projects in the Middle East, such as Egypt, Saudi Arabia, and UAE, and projects in Southeast Asia, such as Singapore and Malaysia. He has the highest legal caliber and deep understanding in Southeast Asian legislation, such as Saudi Arabia's Sharia law and SOP.

Mr. Kim has been working on various construction and real estate cases since he joined the Construction & Real Estate Group at JIPYONG in 2016. Drawing on his years-long experience and in-depth expertise in overseas construction, he represented various large construction companies in Korea on contract management of overseas project which continued for 3 consecutive years. Based on his extensive experience as an engineer, he has also shown expertise in various litigation cases where technical issues are in dispute or in litigation on construction cost such as change of plan and overhead cost. In addition, based on his in-depth understanding in the construction industry, he provides accurate advice on the Basic Law on the Construction Industry and the Law on Subcontracting Fairness to our clients. From 2022 to 2023, Mr. Kim stayed in Australia, where he obtained a Master’s degree in the Construction Law at the University of Melbourne Law School

Mr. Kim continues to provide legal advice related to the energy and resources field and the construction field. He also provides consulting services on the overseas resource purchase agreement related to natural gas, the thermal power plant EPC agreement, the wind power plant EPC agreement, and legal advice on other new and renewable energy and related lawsuits.
