Jipyong Launches AI, Bio & Healthcare Center

On January 30, 2026, Jipyong launched the AI, Bio & Healthcare Center to provide specialized legal services drawing on technical knowledge and regulatory expertise in the bio and healthcare sectors. 
 
Jipyong has strengthened its technology advisory capabilities through close collaboration with Jipyong IP, the firm’s affiliated patent firm.  Building on this partnership, the firm expanded its former Bio & Healthcare Team into the AI, Bio & Healthcare Center, bringing together specialists across the pharmaceutical, bio, medical device, and healthcare fields.  Jipyong IP oversees the technology and intellectual property matters at the core of these industries, providing seamless counsel from research and development through commercialization. 
 
The Center is co-headed by Of Counsel Yoomi KIM, and Partner Tae Hyun LEE.  Ms. KIM is a regulatory and administrative expert with approximately 18 years of experience at the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (MFDS), where she oversaw policy on pharmaceuticals, medical devices, and food safety.  Mr. LEE brings extensive M&A experience and actively advises on investments in the pharmaceutical, bio, and healthcare sectors.  Jin Joo JEONG, a Partner who graduated top of her class from a college of pharmacy and holds a master’s degree in pharmaceutical sciences, serves as Deputy Head.  Other key members include Seung Soo CHOI, who serves as outside counsel to the MFDS; Sung Soo KIM, a physician-turned-attorney specializing in medical litigation; Yoon Jeong JANG, former Non-Standing Director of the Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency (KOSHA); Jun Hee SEO, a Partner advising pharmaceutical, bio, and medical-sector clients; Jong HEO, a sitting board member of the Korean Intellectual Property Lawyers Association; and Yu Jin LEE, who advises on IPOs and capital markets transactions. 
 
The Center’s practice spans seven core areas: (i) regulatory compliance for the healthcare, bio, pharmaceutical, and medical device industries; (ii) intellectual property advisory; (iii) licensing, collaboration, partnership, and joint venture structures; (iv) commercial contracts for the bio, pharmaceutical, and medical device sectors; (v) M&A and investment; (vi) IPOs and capital markets; and (vii) litigation and arbitration.  Leveraging its expertise, the Center delivers optimal solutions for clients navigating the complex regulatory landscape of the healthcare and life sciences industries and provides comprehensive support for their business growth.
