JIPYONG Holds Webinar on “Legal and Practice Review on Effective Collection of Debts at Vietnam, Indonesia, and Myanmar”

On November 26, JIPYONG LLC held a webinar on “Legal and Practice Review on Effective Collection of Debts at Vietnam, Indonesia, and Myanmar” for companies. 
 
Vietnam, Indonesia, and Myanmar are the three countries at the center of Korea’s New Southern Initiative which have been major investment targets for South Korean companies. However, due to the COVID-19 public health emergency, there is a growing number of cases where companies need to collect the debts at those countries due to economic/business difficulties. JIPYONG prepared this webinar to take a view at each country’s debt collection policies. 
 
JIPYONG’s Partner & Head of Overseas Team Cheol JEONG delivered a keynote speech. The speakers were Jung Tae JUNG, the head of Ho Chi Minh City Office at Vietnam, Yong Sook KWON, the head of Jarkarta Office at Indonesia; and Brian K. OH, the head of Yangon Office at Myanmar. They discussed measures to collect debts in each country. 
 
“Due to COVID-19, a growing number of countries are seeking to collect their debts in foreign countries. Thus, it is necessary to conduct a preliminary review on each country’s debt collection policies together with the investment process,” said Cheol JEONG. “With its expertise in foreign countries, JIPYONG hopes that the webinar has provided useful information for companies seeking to collect their debts”
