Jipyong has released its 2021 Sustainability Report. The firm is the first and still the only law firm in Korea to issue a sustainability report every year from 2019.
The 2021 Jipyong Sustainability Report includes Jipyong’s efforts to realize social values from January 2021 to December 2021 and comprehensively covers major activities to implement the 10 principles of the UN Global Compact along with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The report was made based on the Standards (Core Option) of GRI (Global Reporting Initiative), an international sustainability reporting standard, and the standard suggested by Professor Sung Soo HONG from Sookmyung Women’s University in his publication “Law Firm’s Corporate Social Responsibility and Pro bono Activities,” and the Law Firm’s Public Interest Activities Evaluation Index issued by the Korean Bar Association.
In particular, this year’s report includes the ‘Impact Report’ that summarizes Jipyong’s representative public interest activities from the point of view of ‘Impact,’ which refers to the degree of social, environmental, and economic change created by an organization. Based on IMP (Impact Management Project) and the theory of change, Jipyong attempted to analyze how the public interest activities are related to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) adopted by the UN, what and how much Impact the public interest activities will produce, and who the beneficiaries will be.
In 2019, Jipyong became the first law firm in Korea to announce, ‘social value management.’ Following the announcement, the firm established the Social Value Committee, which is committed to internalizing social value management as the company-wide objective and pursuing and realizing social values in all Jipyong’s sectors, including HR, education, service, procurement, governance, and environment, etc. and its relationship with the legal society and local communities.
Jipyong will continue to make efforts to consider social values in the firm’s management through its sustainability report and proactively disclose its efforts, contributing to creating a sustainable organization and society.
