Mr. Seok Dong Kim, Senior Advisor, had served as a public officer for the last 30 years at various posts related to finance, such as the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Finance and Economy, the Financial Services Commission, etc.

Since he started his public service career in 1980, Mr. KIM served as the head of Foreign Funds Division and securities system division at the Ministry of Finance and Economy.

Since 2004, Mr. Kim had been assigned to the core posts that handle policies related to economy and finance, such as the Director of Financial Policy Bureau under the Ministry of Finance and Economy, Commissioner of Korea Financial Intelligence Unit, Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Finance and Economy, Vice Chairman of the Financial Supervisory Commission and Vice Ministry I of the Ministry of Finance and Economy.

Since 2008, Mr. Kim had served as the Representative Director of Nonghyup Economic Research Institute for 2 years, and since 2011, he had served as the Commissioner of Financial Services Commission, a position equivalent to that of a Minister, until February 2013.

Mr. Kim possesses wide and rich knowledge not only in the economic policies for macro-economy, domestic and international finance, foreign exchange, etc., but also in the real economy.  He has in-depth understanding in the legislative and legal issues surrounding such areas as well.

Mr. Kim carried out his mission of growing and developing the Korean economy as a public officer, and in the course of devoting himself to overcoming many crises in Korean economy, including the IMF Financial Crisis in 1997, he earned a nickname of ‘the man of countermeasures.’

Mr. Kim presently serves as standing Senior Advisor to Jipyong as well as the representative of Jipyong Humanities and Social Science Research Institute, where he studies the matters related to humanities, society, economy and history and supports the publication of results from such studies.
