The law firms of Horizon Law Group and Jisung Law Offices announced their merger at a signing ceremony held at the Ritz Carlton Hotel, in Seoul on May 22, 2008. The merger will result in the creation of the 7th largest law firm in Korea with close to 130 attorneys and an expanding network of overseas offices. The combined firm will be tentatively known as Jisung Horizon Law Offices and it is expected that the merger will take effect within 1 to 2 months.
Both firms are known for their creative and innovative approach to legal services and have proven their ability to consistently provide top quality legal services in a cost-efficient manner. As both firms are experiencing strong growth in their practice areas, the joining of the two firms will allow Jisung Horizon to better serve current and future clients with an even broader range of services and areas of specialization and legal expertise.
Horizon Law Group, a leading full-service law firm in Korea with 63 attorneys, was founded in 2000 by experienced corporate, finance, and litigation attorneys from one of Korea’s largest law firms and a highly respected judge of the Seoul High Court. A founding member of the firm subsequently served a distinguished career as the first female Minister of Justice of the Republic of Korea. In addition to its banking & finance practice, the firm's labor practice is highly regarded, and its members include former prominent members of Korea's judiciary, HW Lee (former Chief judge of Korea’s Family Court), DY Park (former presiding Judge of the Seoul Central District Court) and SJ Hong (former bankruptcy judge of the Seoul Central District Court). SH Oh, the current mayor of Seoul, was also a member of Jisung Law Offices before being elected to the mayor’s office.
The joining of the two firms will result in Jisung Horizon becoming the 7th largest law firm in Korea, and will allow the firm to expand the depth and breadth of services to clients.
